Mikayla will provide workshop participants with an overview of the critical history of the power of protest art in the Civil Rights, Red Power and American Indian Movements. She will provide detailed examples of the protest art that she has created throughout her career as an artist. In recent times, social media has been a powerful transmitter of protest art to our global citizens. She will discuss her personal experience in participating in numerous protests for critical Indigenous rights issues, and the power of using visual art to build solidarity between communities.
