Rural Tribal COVID-19 Response

From 2020 through 2022 we provided technical assistance to tribal teams funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration to offer Covid-19 support. Tribal teams developed Covid-19 mitigation approaches, including offering personal protective equipment to community members and programs, school-based supports, test kits and programs to reduce risk of transmission, and quarantine and isolation procedures and resources among others. Seven Directions met monthly with tribal teams over the two-year period to discuss technical assistance needs. We also provided training opportunities to address common issues such as communications strategies, tribal sovereignty and governance in Covid-19 mitigation, and Psychological First Aid for tribal first responders and health care teams, among other topics.
