Indigenous Public Health Leaders

The Indigenous Public Health Leadership (IPHL) program was in collaboration between Seven Directions, American Indian Public Health Resource Center at North Dakota State University and the National Network of Public Health Institutes. IPHL was established with the first cohort in 2022 followed by the second cohort in 2023 with Fellows representing numerous tribes nationwide. The purpose of the IPHL program was to provide emerging Indigenous public health leaders with technical skills to advance their understanding of Indigenous health and internal workforce tool kits (e.g. grant writing workshop, digital storytelling, climate change, etc.). Additionally, the IPHL program increased professional and interpersonal networking through an in-person 2-Day convening which was comprised of guest presentations, cultural activities provided by the Suquamish Tribe, and additional ways to stay connected. This project was funded by the CDC and NNPHI.
